The Pomodoro Technique

Sometimes we have so much to do that in order to achieve some efficient organization this technique becomes a must. And I’m telling you this from my very own experience.

So, why don’t you give it a try?

The basic unit of work in the Pomodoro Technique™ can be split in five simple steps:

  1. Choose a task to be accomplished

  2. Set the Pomodoro to 25 minutes (the Pomodoro is the timer)

  3. Work on the task until the Pomodoro rings, then put a check on your sheet of paper

  4. Take a short break (5 minutes is OK)

  5. Every 4 Pomodoros take a longer break

You need a timer: it can be any timer, actually, from a kitchen timer to a software timer if your work is computer based. Then, set it to 25 minutes.

My favourite software timer: Focus booster

I do hope you find this as useful as I do!!

Thanx to PROFESORJANO for the idea!!

Sherlock Holmes's grammar corrections

If you can't watch the video on this blog, try this link.

I find really interesting how English is perceived by both students and teachers. The way we approach grammar and how we see it may well influence how we speak, and more importantly, the way we sound.

This video is an example of 'good grammar' vs. 'bad grammar'. The clip was taken from the BBC series Sherlock.

  • What are the mistakes?

  • If you made those mistakes, how do you think you would be seen by the other speaker?

DON'T WORRY, YOU WON'T BE SEEN AS A CRIMINAL, THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!
